Myanmar is a UNIQUE country, influenced BY its totally climate. The Monsoon season is from June to September.

It does not rain all day during THE WET season but there could be some PERIODS of HEAVY rain.

We want to give you some advice in order to prepare FOR your trip:
High Season: from October to April
Low Season: from May to September

• Clothes
If we consider the country’s climate and its very high temperatures the whole year, it is necessary to wear very fresh and light clothes. It may be useful to wear a light coat or jersey if you plan to visit Inle Lake. Short troursers and short skirts are forbidden in Buddhist temples

• Shoes
According to the prohibition of wearing any kind of shoes or even socks inside the temples, we strongly recommend you to take a pair of sandals to easily take off and put on. Sandals are the most popular footwear in Burma.
For those who visit Inle Lake it is very importatnt to wear very confortable shoes, specially for those who have a special interest on trekking throughout the area.

• Mosquitos
As with many tropical countries, Burma is affected by mosquitoes. It is very important to take reliable mosquito repelent with you.

• Medicines and Others
As Burma in an undeveloped coutry it would be useful to carry a small first aid kit that includes modern essencial medicines, such as: paracetamol, loperamida(anti diarrhoea), zitromax (anti diarrhoe antibiotic). It would be sensible to visit an International Vaccination Centre, at least one month before your departure date. It is very dificult to find feminine hygiene articles such as Tampax. We also recommend that you take an antiseptic to wash your hands frequently. Vaccination, Vacinnation is not required to travel to Burma. Anyway, as we said before it is very important to visit a vaccination center in order to receive more information.

• Water
It is very important that you make sure you are only using drinkable water. Never take water from the griffin or from any bottle that has not been opened in front of you. Be careful with the ice and be careful with the water with which you clean your teeth. Always use drinkable water. We recommend a water purifier such as Micropur

• Fruit and Vegetables
In order to avoid stomach problems we strongly recommend you only eat suitably cooked vegetables. It is very important not to eat fruit with peel or fruit that has not been washed.

• Sun Protection

Due to the high temperatures and the amount of time you will be spending out in the open, it is very important that you include a high factor protection cream in your travel kit. This will be particularly important for those clients wishing to visit Ngpali Beach or Ngwe Saung (New Beach)

• Currency and Others
It is not now necesary to make any specific currency change when you arrive Myanmar. We recomend to take Dollars rather than Euros. Dollars of the CB serie are not accepted. Any Dollar Note folded, broken or painted is not acepted. Credit cards are not acepted in the entire country even at the hotels. There are no cash dispensers.

• Tips
Bus drivers, bellboys, waiters, boatmen (Inle and Mingun) expect a tip of 500-1000 kyats (aproximatly 50 cents) 500-1000 kyats is a good tip for each service (per person)

• Books and Other Products
It is not advisable to take with you any book written by Aung San Suu Kyi or by any person perceived by the Government to be known as an Anti-Government “Agitator” or “Dissident”.
However, although written by Aung San Suu Kyi, “Letters from Burma” is a very good book to read before travelling, as it describes beautifully the customs of the country. Please note: if you decide to take this book with you, it would be advisable to “protect” it with a cover of your own making.
